You buy it for exclusivity, not value: few are seen on Italian roads, and for certain buyers that matters more than any spec sheet. The cabin is its strongest suit — leather worked as in luxury yachting, a digital clock at the centre of the dash, finishes you feel under your hand — and the driving position is lower and more enveloping than in rival SUVs. Against a Q5 or GLC it offers less technology and a thinner service network, but it delivers a character the Germans lack: the V6 soundtrack in the Trofeo, derived from the MC20's Nettuno engine, is pure theatre. This is the car for someone who has already owned the Germans and wants something not everyone has. Anyone chasing pure rationality should look elsewhere.
