It is the most accessible way into Porsche ownership and, unlike many sporting SUVs, it earns the label: steering weighted just right, a precise front end and body control that stays uncannily flat through corners. The new generation is fully electric, with 800-volt architecture that lets it charge among the fastest. The direct comparison is the Cayenne: the Macan is forty centimetres shorter, far easier in town and costs twenty thousand less — but rear space is tighter and the boot noticeably smaller. Worth knowing before buying: the base price climbs quickly through the options list, which on a Porsche is long and expensive. The sloping coupé roof costs headroom for tall rear passengers.
