Tesla Model Y
Take a Model 3, raise it ten centimetres and add a tailgate: the result is the world's best-selling electric SUV. The real advantage is load space — 854 litres behind plus 117 in the front trunk, with a completely flat floor when the seats fold: you can literally sleep in it, which is what matters for camping or carrying bulky items. The single-pane glass roof runs back over the rear seats and floods the cabin with light, though it does make itself felt in southern summers. Compared with the Model 3 it gives up some range and steering precision, being taller and heavier. Worth asking whether you truly need the ride height: if you never carry anything bulky, the Model 3 costs less and uses less.
